Support the Fitzgerald Biosphere

A Biosphere is more than its plants and animals; it is an idea: that humans can live well as part of nature when we take care of it responsibly. The Fitzgerald Biosphere Community Collective (FBCC) is the community body that holds that idea together, connecting the community, Traditional Owners, industry groups, schools and researchers who all have a stake in the future of this remarkably rich and biodiverse place. Nearly all of this work is done by volunteers.

The need for our combined effort has never been greater. The January 2026 fire burned around 170,000 hectares, more than half of Fitzgerald River National Park, at the core of our Biosphere. Recovery will take a connected community: landholders, Traditional Owners, agencies and volunteers working together on monitoring, support and restoration. That coordination is exactly what the FBCC exists to provide, and your donation keeps it going.

How to donate

The FBCC's Gift Fund is hosted by our auspicing body, the Dieback Working Group Inc, a registered charity with the ATO. This means that your donations are 100% tax deductible, and can be made directly to DWG to fund the FBCC's work in the Fitzgerald Biosphere.

Donating takes two steps. First, transfer your donation to the DWG bank account:

Account name: Dieback Working Group Inc

BSB: 633-000

Account number: 232 977 728

Reference: FBCC

Then email the Coordinator at coordinator@fitzgeraldbiosphere.org  to let us know your donationhas been made, so a tax-deductible receipt can be issued.

If you would like to set up a regular donation, email the Coordinator and we can assist you in arranging it.

What your donation supports

The most valuable thing your donation buys is time. Volunteers carry this organisation, but the connecting work of a biosphere cannot run on goodwill alone, and donations directly support the work of our part-time Biosphere Coordinator: the person who keeps the threads together across 1.5 million hectares and two shires.

Through the Coordinator's work, your donation supports education programs that build the next generations’ connection to this place, community events like Living and Learning the Biosphere, two-way knowledge sharing between Noongar people, researchers and the wider community, on-ground partnerships such as our dieback protection work with the Dieback Working Group, and the coordination and reporting that keeps our UNESCO listing alive, including the upcoming ten-year Periodic Review.

Other ways to support the Biosphere

Not everyone can give money, and money is not the only thing this place needs. You can volunteer at community events, get your workplace or school involved in our education programs, practice good dieback hygiene every time you head into the bush, or simply come along to a Living and Learning the Biosphere event and bring a friend.
